There is evidence to suggest that proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) interfere with the metabolism of clopidogrel to the active metabolite through the inhibition of the cytochrome P450 enzyme (CYP2C19).This protocol supports the medication review of patients co-prescribed clopidogrel and a PPI.
